SonicSampleDrill System
The heart of this unique Sonic drilling system consists of 2
ex-centers that are driven by 2 small high-speed (6-12.000 rpm)
hydro-engines. The high frequency vibrations (100-200Hz) that are
generated by this are transferred in a smart and effective way to
the drilling rods. These high frequency vibrations cause the soil
surrounding the drilling point and each coupling to become fluid.
The zone that is made fluid is actually fairly small, between 1
and a maximum of 5mm all round. This reduces the friction and
allows the Sonic bodies to let penetrate the soils that are sandy,
rich in gravel or consist of weak clay very quickly. More rigid
clay soils prove harder to penetrate, below the water table this
process is accelerated however, sonic sampling gives extremely nice cores even in sandy and fine
gravel. Through the high frequency vibrations just a small part of
the sample area outside is affected by the vibrations. A recovery
rate of 95% often will be reached. Another big advantage of Sonic
vibrations.
The application of Sonic sampling is in the sampling with
high-grade quality using the Aqua-lock method (for instance for
archeological purposes, sand dredging wells, filtration research
for drinking water companies, geophysical research, prospecting
for gold veins etc.), and in placing of quality filters hype 32mm,
Direct-well filters (1”) hdpe 63mm, all types of sensors (for
instance Divers; small water monitoring loggers), seismic
explosive charges in the soil through the lost cone method. Sonic
sampling also be used in Percussion gouge sampling, placing
aeration- and / or rinsing hoses for remediation projects (lost
cone method), and for the extension of the possibilities (depth /
diameter) of cone penetrations test machines.

Sampling with Aqualock
The Aqualock is a patented sampling method that really comes
into its own when used in conjunction with the Sonic drill module.
The sampler that comes in 2, 3 or 4-metre lengths is dropped to
its required depth at the same speed as with the lost cone method.
For the penetration the space within the Aqualock sampler is
filled with water which keeps the piston down at the bottom end.
There is no drilling cone involved, therefore. When the required
depth has been reached, the water is allowed to escape towards the
drilling rods above.
The
sonic vibrations make it possible to achieve a nice core where in
the case of homogeneous soil types only the outer layer (1 to 2mm)
is visibly affected by the vibrations. Samples can be taken from
clay as well as from (coarse) gravely sand. The sampler can be
lowered down the previously drilled hole and at the new depth
another sample can be taken. This involves repeatedly inserting
and extracting the drilling rod but the sampling is achieved very
easily and rapidly with this method. Finally, with the aid of the
water the sample is pressed out of the sampler into a trough or a
plastic liner.

01.11.SE Ergonomical auger set
This set for heterogeneous soils is used to carry out manual
drilling and sampling in a great variety of different soils in an
ergonomically sound way. It is particularly suitable for general
soil investigation (description of the layering, geology,
archeaology) as well as taking samples for such activities as
environmental research |

01.11.SO Hand Auger set for heterogeneous soil
sampling. Can be used in almost any type of soil conditions.
With the Hand Auger set, a depth of 8-10 meter can be realistically
achieved. Very convenient in transportation. Suitable for application of general soil research (soil profile description, geology, mineralogy and sampling for environmental research.

04.18 Percussion drilling set is
applied for hard soil layers which contain rubble and loose stones. The standard set is equipped for drilling to a depth of
up to 5 meter. It is meant for fast & simple sampling and ease
of transportation. The drilling set is suitable for use in soil
pollution, migration study, grain size distribution, profile
description and etc.

04.16 Undisturbed soil sampling kits
are available in sets for different soil condition and application
such as the determination of the presence of very volatile
components like benzene, toulene, xylene and chlorinated
hydrocarbons. It is also suitable for the determination of volume
percentage of humidity.

07.53.SA and 07.53.SC soil sample
ring kits available in two different models with model SA use for soft soil and
SC for all types of soil condition. Both models can be used to sample up to a
depth of two meters. Suitable for laboratory studies on soil moisture contents, pF-curve
determination, water permeability, air permeability, weight by
volume, density, oxygen diffusion, soil-water, air relationship at
field capacity, pore distribution and etc. |

04.09 Peat sampler, for taking semi disturbed peat soil or in wet flabby and very soft (underwater) mineral soils.
It is possible to take samples below the groundwater level or below the surface water.
The Peat Samples is suitable for application on environmental studies, visual interpretation of
soil layer, soft sediment sampling, paleontological research, etc. |

03.05.SB The two-stroke motor that is used in both sets is
suitable for (almost) vertical borings. The machine is controlled
by two operatives. The 3.0 kW (4.1 DIN PK) motor has sufficient
power to execute a boring to a depth of up to 10 meter. During the
boring continuous flighted augers made of high grade steel are
used (Refer from 03.05.SB). The diameter of the augers is 8 and 15 cm.
The smooth extensions from the set 03.05.SB consist of a pipe with
connections on both ends. Both types of extension have been fitted
with bayonet fittings in order to prevent the connection from
getting disconnected during operation. |

04.20.SA Sediment sampler, type Beeker sampler is an apparatus for undisturbed sampling of submerged soil to a depth of 5m. The submerged soil appeared to be an easy and invisible dumping place for chemical waste. In case of taking samples from submerged soils it is a problem that the final sample usually is not a good representation of the real stratification of the soil. Applying the equipment described here it is, however possible to take samples in which the original structure and thickness of the layers is preserved. |
