  • Eijkelkamp 08.25.SA Set For pF-Determination With Ceramic Plates suitable for determination of pF-curves in the range pF 2.0 - 4.2 (0.1 - 15 bar of suction).
  • Suitable for the calibration of soil moisture blocks or soil moisture measurement equipment.
  • The standard set contains two extractors with ceramic plates (0.1 MPa, 0.3 MPa and 1.5 MPa, resp. 1, 3 and 15 bar) and accessories, soil sample rings, a pressure control panel and a compressor.
  • Several ceramic plates with soil samples can be placed in the extractor at the same time.
  • The pressure control panel is standard equipped with two manometers 0 - 2 MPa and 0- 0.4 MPa (resp. 0 - 20 bar and 0 - 4 bar).
  • The included compressor (220V - 50 Hz) is specifically designed for this purpose: maximum pressure 2.0 MPa (20 bar), built-in safety precautions, completely guarded and quiet.
  • When knowing the soil moisture characteristics it is possible to determine/calculate the pore volume of the soil, the pore size distribution of the soil, the capillary-rise capacity, the air and moisture contents of the soil with a given groundwater level, determination of field capacity and available soil moisture, and soil suction research in relation to germination time of seeds.

  • Based on the difference in sedimentation speed between small and large soil particles.
  • The sedimentation of the particles is the result of two opposing forces: gravity and friction resulting from movement in a fluid medium.
  • A sample is pipetted at different times and different depths of the suspension of the sample in a measuring cylinder. Time and depth are determined applying the Law of Stokes.
  • The pipetted suspension is condensed and dried and weighing determines the mass ratio of the pipetted fraction.

  • Determined on the principle that unstable aggregates will break down more easily than stable aggregates when immerged into water.
  • 8 sieves are filled with a certain amount of soil aggregates to determine the stability.
  • These sieves are placed in a can filled with water, which will move up and downward for a fixed time.
  • Unstable aggregates will fall apart and pass through the sieve and are collected in the water-filled can underneath the sieve.

 







Calcimeter

  • Eijkelkamp 08.53 Calcimeter for the simultaneous determination of the carbonate content in 5 samples.
  • Delivered complete with reaction vessels and test tubes (without reagents).
  • Per reaction approximately one hour is required.
  • Quantity of sample needed is determined beforehand by treating a part of the sample with hydrochloric acid on a watch glass.
  • The carbonate content is estimated on the basis of the extend and the period of bubbling. Based on this estimate the quantity of sample for the analysis is determined.
  • No balloon is used to keep the CO2 separate from the water (to prevent any gas from dissolving in the water). This results in much more accurate measuring results.
  • A series of measurements should be executed in a room where there are no differences in temperature exceeding 4°C.
  • Reagents used must meet the standards for analysis.
  • Other gasses (for instance in polluted soils) may be released. The gas will then have to be purified first and the CO2 will have to be determined otherwise.
