Structural Health Monitoring
Structural health monitoring (SHM) refers to the process of implementing a damage detection and characterization strategy for engineering structures. Its intention is to monitor the structural integrity of buildings and to detect and pinpoint the locations of potential damages.
Presently, wired network systems remain dominant in SHM applications. However, due to wireless network (WSN) systems inherent advantages compared to wired network systems, it is believed that WSN system will be implemented for SHM in the near future. Nevertheless, before WSNs are deployed on structures, their limits (e.g., communication, fault tolerance, and energy) must be considered.
SHM Wired Network System
Our structural health monitoring wired network system usually consists of a numbers of data-acquisition unit/ datalogger with versatile capabilities to integrate with various geotechnical sensors such as piezometers, inclinometers, settlement gauges, pressure & load cells, extensometers & jointmeters, strain gauges & thermometers and pendulums. If the number of sensors exceeded the maximum limit our data-acquisition unit, simply just add a AM16/32B multiplexer to significantly increases the number of sensors you can measure.
SHM Wireless Network System
Do you have any concerns about long sensor cables and cable management? Introducing SISGEO's Data Mobile Solution, a structural health monitoring wireless network system which able to automate the geotechnical and structural instruments for monitoring construction sites like dams, tunnels, bridges, undergrounds, buildings and mines. Nodes to which the instruments are connected and transferred their data to Gateway by using Mesh, a patent-pending long-range wireless mesh communication protocol, compose the system. On-board software on the Gateway manage data and configure the project.
